Town legislators are drafting an ordinance to prevent developers and landowners from creating irregularly shaped lots to circumvent town code.
Councilman Lew Killmer says the problem arose when a developer purchased a narrow strip of land adjoining his property to ensure he met the 10,000-square-foot parcel minimum he needed to split the property in two.
In the process, the developer blocked the street access of an adjacent home and created easement problems, Killmer said.

A recently awarded grant will allow the Hollywood Police Department to purchase new Tasers.
The $80,066 award was obtained from the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program after the Broward Sheriff's Office applied for funding.
The grant is administered through the U.S. Department of Justice .

A new battlefront has broken out between Australia's major banks to attract and hold small to medium businesses which continue to reel from the global financial crisis.
The National Australia Bank has moved first by reviewing fees for business customers including the controversial dishonour charges for cheques and electronic payments.
It follows last year's fees reprieve for personal banking customers.

I often forget that my friend Joseph Healy is HIV, he sent me this from his blog on World Aids Day, many people are forgotten.
So for many of these people living long term with HIV and with all of the former social networks gone (work, HIV support groups etc) they are expected to disappear from the scene, to be housebound and to live in penury.
This is their reward for having lived beyond their 'sell by date' and for struggling for years against illness and depression.

This follows on from a major report into abuse of children in church run reform schools in the Irish Republic.
The Irish state established tribunal to investigate such cases to award compensation – some of it money from the state and the rest from the Church.

An improving outlook among business owners is broadly in line with similar sentiment from consumers and larger corporates and suggests Australia's economy is continuing on the path to recovery.
In the three months to September 2009, the National Australia Bank Small & Medium Enterprise Survey found business confidence jumped 22 index points to +15 points.
Finance, wholesaling and health were the strongest areas, with transport, retail, construction and manufacturing the weakest.
